Re: Alfor's Rarities
Martin GRABERT (1868-1951, German composer, organist, conductor, pupil of Bellermann and Bargiel)
Suite op. 15
A well-written piece, deeply rooted in the 19th century, but nevertheless fun (and recreation) to play!! This one normally would have failed my posting test, but please judge for yourself:
Paul CRESTON
Sonata op. 9 (somewhat dull neo-classical style, very far from Stravinsky's
exciting neo-classical adventures in his piano sonata)

Re: Alfor's Rarities
You may not want to have this here as I would imagine (without looking at it) that this is by the British composer Antony Hopkins http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antony_Hopkins who is happily still with us (at 90), and was once very well known in the UK for a long-running series of radio broadcasts called 'Talking about Music', which I used to listen to as a schoolboy.alfor wrote:

Antony HOPKINS
Sonata in d minor (mildly contemporary style, tightly knit, a bit on the intellectual side)

Concert-Polonaise
Revised edition of the "Polonaise-Fantaisie" (see imslp) The unknown composer:
Paul FAIKA (German composer and music teacher, 1892-??)
2 Mazurkas (dedicated to Eduard Erdmann)
Somewhat naive tonal style; nevertheless effective if taken seriously

The very much unknown composer
:
Erwin HESS (German composer, ???-???)
Sonate f dur (finished Jan., 31, 1915)
Partly truly individual late-romantic style (see for example beginning of mvt. III.) Recommended! Friedrich Gernsheim: soundbite

Thanks! Have you (or someone else) been able to track down Melartin's Fantasia Apocaliptica?
