No. It's next door, but not considered part of the Caucasus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasuslutoslawski wrote:I guess if there is enough supply of Turkish Music. I still have 1 though, by Erkin.

We don't get many new threads, and there are a few Turkish composers who are worthwhile, so I'll split these posts off and hope that others can contribute.

Re: Music from or inspired by Turkey
Turkey also has a rich folk music tradition going back to the time of the Ottoman Empire.
Some of this music can be enjoyed by watching free-to-air satellite broadcasts by TRT and
D-Smart on Turksat at 42 deg E.

The 'inspired by' bit was also supposed to remind people of the one time fashion for what was known as 'Janissary Music':

I can contribute two old scans of mine from composers of the "Turkish Five", since both works are out of print.
First there are the "Ten Etudes on Aksak Rhythms" by Ahmed Adnan Saygun (1907-1991). Second, there is the Piano Concerto by Ulvi Cemal Erkin in a 2P reduction done by Boris Blacher.

Thanks for those, specially the concerto which is always welcomed !klavierelch wrote:I can contribute two old scans of mine from composers of the "Turkish Five", since both works are out of print.

These Turkish five, are some really inspiring composers.
Lets see, we have Russian Five, Les six from france, and Turkish five.
Is there any other special squadron out there?
