Laments
I need access to a substantial amount of Laments (or lamentable material - the more Irish the better) for the next 5 months.
If anyone has them neatly archived that would be most excellent.
Please & thanks

Thanks Rob - this will suffice nicely.
BTW, has anyone ever written something about Icarus?

Yes, the brilliant Russian conductor/composer Igor Markevitch in 1932. I have both a score and a recording.davida march wrote:Thanks Rob - this will suffice nicely.

Re: Laments
Thanks about Igor Markevitch. I was just reading about the Icarus myth the other day and thought how strange it was that I'd never come across it in music and yet there are plenty of paintings and films which are based on the Icarus myth.
BTW - it has nothing to do with laments just some wayward neurons causing general clutter in the synapses.

Re: Laments
On no! I love Irish music in fact my favorite CD atm would be Jordi Savall's Celtic album. I rather like the Cheiftans etc. (introduced via the film Barry Lyndon in my very formative years - which is often where our subconscious reverts).4candles wrote:I hope this isn't a slur on Irish music :| , some of which can be very beautiful...! :)davida march wrote:(or lamentable material - the more Irish the better)
My father sang a great deal of Irish Ballades around the piano when we were young - I didn't know that it was uncommon by the 1970s not to.
So there you have it - I genuinely love Irish music - although maybe not Enya as it reminds me too much of Hobbitton.
