Ukrainian Composers
Dear Friends,
From this moment on I will include in every concert I play (Pianist) a piece by an Ukrainian composer. I just looked at the Wikipedia-Site for Names.
Do you have any suggestions? Composers? Pieces?
Thankful for any Idea, any piece!
Helpless greetings,
Kai Adomeit.
PS. Very important: I naturally will continue to play Russian music - composers like i.e. Rachmaninov, Shostakovich or Stravinsky are not responsible for what happens now in Ukraine!

Re: Ukrainian Composers
If you search on Ukraine/Ukrainian there will be many many suggestions from existing posts.
I am thinking about my friend the composer George Reshetar in Kyiv (posted under Living Composers thread). I have about a dozen of his pieces to play.

Dear Kai,
alfor posted this album about 12 years ago - for some of the names in this collection it might prove difficult to decide if they are more Ukrainian or more sovjet but it's a start
.
All the best
Paul

Re: Ukrainian Composers
If you have a youtube channel I ask you to record two cycles of 24 preludes by Ukrainian composers, because it was published half a century ago, but no one is doing it. This is very important!
This is my own scans
Isaak Berkovich (1902-1972) (Actually 26 preludes)

Nikolai Silvansky (1916-1985)

Re: Ukrainian Composers
Gliere was born in Kiev but from a Polish mother and a Saxon father. He traveled a lot through his life and seemed to accept the Soviet regime. I don't know how Ukrainian we considered himself.
