Yes, it is a more modern publication and hence covered by copyright. Not sure if it was ever printed back in 1824 !

According to one of the recordings, it "was not performed during his lifetime. The composer never proof-read the score or edited the text. In 1986, the manuscript, held in the Warsaw Music Society Library, was reconstructed twice: by Kazimierz Rozbicki and by Krzysztof Baculewski. The Concerto has been performed according to both those versions around a dozen times in all."

So we're basically looking at a 38 year old first edition.

err....... Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński - Piano Concerto in A-flat major, Op.2 (1824)
But it has an opus number Op.2, meaning it must have been published at least once during his life-time....

Not that i nit-pick..... i find this very interesting.......Of course the first publication could have been lost, and only the manuscript kept.

Neither Opus numbers nor copyright have to be "claimed" or established by publishing. Copyright protection is granted automatically from the time an original work is created.

There are (probably numerous) composers with works posted on Pianophilia whose works exist in part or in full only in manuscript form - and many have "Opus" numbers. (In some cases I may have been the first person to create engraved versions of those works.) We also have a few who have re-used their Opus numbers according to their own system (or lack thereof).

I just heard this concerto in a flat major and wanted to play it but cannot find the sheet music for this. Anyone know where I can find this?

Thank
Hello OG1992

I have a copy of the full score (not aware of a 2 piano arrangement) - I can not share on Pianophilia owing to various reasons, but send me an email to discuss.

Hello all!

Does anybody have Dobrzynski's Op. 23 by any chance?

"4 Mazures, 3 Valses et 2 Galoppes" (pub. 1836, Hofmeister)"

Cant be found on IMSLP and I have tried searching various polish websites for manuscripts but I am having trouble!

I apologize, I am trying to collect all of his Mazurkas and I noticed his Op. 16 is also missing from my collections of scores, would you happen to have this as well?
