Welcome to Pianophilia - hope you find the site interesting and useful, plus can share music, insights and humour with our many members.

I am looking at posting a fair amount of Palmgren eventually, so will look to see if I have the pieces you have listed in my collection. Keep an eye on this thread :D

Thank you! I've already found this to be a fantastic site, and hope to contribute as much as I can to it. :)

It was me that posted the full score. It was a terribly large and sometimes hard to read score. This 2 piano version is greatly appreciated.

Anybody has any of the Aare Merikanto's Piano Concerto?
I have only heard until now no.3. Is there a recording for the others?

Thank you for the Atterberg.......personally think this is one of the most gorgeous, post-romantic concertos of the 20th century. The opening theme in the first movement is just exquisite and so beautifully crafted by the composer [as is the 2nd movement as well]. Funny enough had this down to scan myself so thank you for saving me time again [begin to think we have a psychic link as you seem to scan items I have on my scanning pile] :D I had promised Oren I would scan this concerto...so hopefully he is pleased with your scan ?

Many thanks again.

The second and third piano concertos share a fine CD (one of the few of his music that's still fairly easy to come by: someone really needs to reissue or re-record the great works from the 1920's though; at present only Pan is easily available) with some of Merikanto's other later, lighter pieces; there's an amazing recording of the second concerto's premier performance (1954) on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR3V3kb91KI), although only the enchanting second movement has been posted. Short excerpts of each movement can also be heard on Amazon Uk at: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Merikanto-Piano ... 902&sr=1-1
Would be great to see the scores. Merikanto's great progressive pieces from the 1920s (Symphonic Study, Pan, Fantasie) are now available (for ridiculous prices!) in study score form from Fennica Gerhman, but no sign of the concertos, sorry.
