Piano Music for Left Hand
I'm surprised this thread hasn't been created yet, as there are surprisingly quite a number of works for one hand. These can vary from basic technical studies to some very beautifully crafted pieces, the left-hand Epithalame from the Op 65 set by Bortkiewicz immediately calls to mind.
Of course, many works were created through the enterprise of one-handed pianists, Wittgenstein being one of the better known.......and there has always been the challenge to create a work for one-hand that has provoked composers to create some true muscial gems, both solo works and concertos, as well as a test of the abilities of the concert pianist.
A varied assortment to begin this thread [with thanks to Mr P]....I'll post more over the weekend

Re: Piano Music for Left Hand
Malcolm, Thank you for these wonderful left hand pieces! The Pauer etudes complement the Op. 92 Moszkowski set very nicely, and they are a bit easier on the southpaw to play. I remember hearing that Max and Emil Pauer were good friends with Moszkowski, so perhaps their mutual sets of etudes developed somewhat concurrently. In any event this is very good and very useful material!

Re: Piano Music for Left Hand
I took the liberty to rename ilu's thread to "Performing Piano music for one hand" since in this thread there is a discussion on the way of performing left hand pieces whereas here left hand scores are posted.

Re: Piano Music for Left Hand
Hello All - I found a number of left hand works by one Ludvig Birkedal-Barford on the IMSLP site. He's a new composer for me, and happening across him somewhat by accident I thought to post the link to his scores (which are fairly good).

Re: Piano Music for Left Hand
Here attached is Raymond Lewenthal's anthology of works for piano one hand (mostly left hand). I always felt that his choice of material was outstanding both from a musical and technical point of view. One of the highlights is Blumenfeld's Etude Op. 36 which his pupil Simon Barere made a legendary recording of. Enjoy
