Piano(s) and Percussion (1 or more players)
Hello dear everyone,
A percussionist of an orchestra asked me if I knew of any pieces which could be performed either by one piano and various percussion or by two pianos and percussion. The latter includes Bernstein and Bartok, I think.
Has anyone heard about other pieces for these different combinations? There must be lots of modern pieces I haven't heard about.
Thank you for your answers,
best wishes,
Arglmann

Steve Reich's 'Sextet' and 'Dance Patterns' are two possibilities.

George Crumb wrote "Music for a Summer Evening" for the combination.
Soonmee Kang, who teaches at Sungshin Women's University in Seoul, has written a piano symphony named "Poongryu" and there is a version for two pianists and two percussionists. I participated in the first performance of this in 2011.

If you're still interested, maybe check out 'Epos' by Danish composer Vagn Holmboe. I believe it's scored for two pianists and two percussionists. I'm fairly certain that piece has never been played outside of Denmark.
