Paul wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:39 am Just for your information - the 4 pieces op.20 are currently in the process of being scanned by the Staatsbibliothek Berlin. So we will have to wait for some weeks to get a printed version - no need of typesetting.

Best regards

From some of the manuscripts posted in another thread from the Ricardo Viñes collection of music manuscripts, we have a handful of works from Lucien L. Bernheim dated 1925-1928.

There seem to be a few musical Bernheims, but all centred around Montreux Switzerland.

I am surmising that Lucien L Bernheim and his singer wife Madame Rose Bornet-Bernheim might be the parents of pianist Alain Bernheim (1931-2022).
He was the author of Cinq chansons populaires judéo-espagnoles du XVIe siècle (1920) and wrote further art-songs based on Sephardic melodies, and it appears that is his main legacy.
There is a diary entry in the Schoenberg archives of a visit with Bernheim in July 1931.

Biographical data is sketchy.

Anyhoo... the first manuscript I've engraved is
BERNHEIM.Lucien Morceau pour piano (1928).pdf

These are the three works bundled together in the Viñes archive as a single file titled "Suite pour Piano" .It's not clear if they're a real suite or someone has just given that name to a bundle of works.
BERNHEIM.Lucien Complainte de Feu-Follet (1927).pdf
BERNHEIM.Lucien Danse slave (1925).pdf
BERNHEIM.Lucien Prelude - Hommage à César Franck (1925).pdf
