Re: Composers from the Caribbean
Hello all! Was wondering if anybody had any scores for Nicolas Ruiz, Espadero not listed on IMSLP? Hes a Cuban composer who studied under Julian Fontana (Chopin's Right Hand). His music is really wonderful!

Re: Composers from the Caribbean
Hello Jeremy!
Sorry I meant any score that cannot be found on IMSLP! I was particular interested in his Nocturnes if anybody has them!
Best,
Genosen

Re: Composers from the Caribbean
There are a few links posted in this forum already: simply search on Espadero.
I found this digitised setting of the Grande Fantaisie Cubaine here: https://musescore.com/user/27890447/scores/5720451
Gottschalk's Op.42 transcription of the nocturne for violin and piano La chute des feuilles is here: https://urresearch.rochester.edu/instit ... ionId=6410
Rochester has a couple of other Espadero/Gottschalk works linked
Do you know of any other surviving nocturnes other than that and the Op.11 Souvenir d'autrefois?
The list of works at the site below does not seem to indicate any others:

Hello Bingo! Sorry I mispoke, I meant his Mazurkas not Nocturnes! But In reality I am interested in anything not readily available online since the collection on IMSLP and MuseScore seems incomplete. I saw a youtube video on the "Grande Fantaisie Cubaine" and the poster of the video stated he had to get the score from his local library, so it seems like Espaderos music is somewhat neglected online. His 8 etudes on IMSLP arent even typeset and come directly from the manuscript.
Just curious if anybody here had any scores in private circulation. For example, cant find his Barcarola Op. 18 anywhere despite there being recordings online:
Ive checked various sites to no avail.

The 8th etude is in a typeset version on IMSLP, labelled as a transcendental Etude. Contact the typesetter for more.genosen wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 5:30 pm Hello Bingo! http://pianolatinoamerica.org/e_espader ... score.html lists publishers of works like the Barcarolle
For other works, contact the recording artist. In obscure repertoire they're usually also holders of academic teaching posts. Regardless, they're often happy to help out with scores or library references.

Ludovic Lamothe (12 May 1882 - 4 April 1953) was a Haitian composer and virtuoso pianist.burgmuller wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2017 1:43 pm Has anybody heard about Lodovic Lamothe, "the black Chopin"? he was from Haiti. No scores anywhere

Aside from his studies in Paris under Louis Diemer at the Paris Conservatory, he spent his life in Haiti, where he was known as the "Black Chopin".
IMSLP now has a single volume collection Musique de Ludovic Lamothe printed privately by his family after his death.
Feuillet d'Album No1 in F♯ minor (corrected & updated Feb 9)
I have engraved this work found on p141 of the collection . The handwritten score superficially appears to have has eighth notes for the treble figure in measures 15-17 (and repeated later). The score however has been written to align the notes with the triplets in the second voice. I have therefore notated the figure in triplets.
