Re: School of Syncopation - Jazz, Stride, Novelties & the Like
Greetings,
I am looking for Piano Stylings of the Great Standards vol 3, 4, 5, 6.
https://www.alfred.com/piano-stylings-o ... 50-985556/
I have asked Alfred and other publications, but it seems these books are out of print.
Are they still available for purchase somewhere?
Can somebody help?

I also have been looking for these volumes for a long time and they have been out of print.

Lots of sheet music is sold by second-hand book stores.

Four Hearts (Сердца четырёх) was a Soviet romantic comedy film from 1945. The music was by Yuri Milyutin (Miliutin, Milutin), with songs and selections later performed by Alexander Tsfasman's jazz ensemble.
I've typeset this piano score of what appears to be a Tsfasman-arranged medley from the film. You can listen to it here: https://musescore.com/user/4151271/scores/6706183

As the scan is difficult to read, I've reset it. Please let me know of any errors. Audio available here: https://musescore.com/user/4151271/scores/6746492honkytonkpiano wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2015 4:51 am More from the wonderful Big Band Era...
Here is "In The Mood" (by Garland & Razaf), one of the greatest hits by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Sure this Boogie-Swing piano arrangement is rare for the most...

PianoPhilia has been very fortunate in having many members who make an outstanding contribution to the site. In terms of this thread, Frank Himpsl uploaded a great number of rare transcriptions and scores from his own extensive collection of piano rolls and other important historical sources. There are 173 pages in this thread, most of which come form him.
Frank passed away from cancer earlier this year.
We conversed on Facebook on many musical topics, and I always found him to be extremely informative and generous.
He will be missed, but leaves behind a great legacy which we can all enjoy.
Regards
Fred

Dear Fred:
Thank you very much for sharing the sad news about Frank's death. We are very grateful for his generosity and he will certainly be remembered in our community.
Let's pray for him.

I am very grateful to Frank (and so many others here) for the marvellous music I have discovered through their indefatigable work and enthusiasm. I shall raise a glass to his memory this evening.

Here are the Novelties I was talking about, they are by Nacio Herb Brown, Raie daCosta, Kar Wehle, Pierre Blaauw and Harry Revel, and Franz Vienna.

You can find many of the individual pieces have been re-set and made available here: https://musescore.com/user/13824426/sets/4811981
