paolor wrote:According to OT this is the only piece by Brahms which Kirchner transcribed for 8 hands. A corresponding version of the second concerto was made by Juon - unfortunately I don't have it. So far I never tried this but it should be a rewarding experience...

This has just been released by Sibley, but I thought it's important enough to include here as a file (with a more logical name) than by posting the link.

In this arrangement the transcriber has "reserved" piano 1 preferentially for the wind instruments and harp, whereas piano 2 "substitutes" the strings - and he recommends to choose the two pianos correspondingly in case they are of different "character" (I never saw a similar remark so far). BTW in this overture 8 hands aren't too many...

Enjoy,

Piano 4 hands and more

Post by lutoslawski »

Well.. i have been through imslp but couldnt get anything for 1 piano six hands. PP use to have some 6 hands pieces. But that was quite a long time, and i have pathetically lost them.
Just for a little show off in a recital, need to check out some pieces for piano 6 hands. I got some gillock , but thats all i had and bought.
I remember seeing a 6 hand version for rachmaninov italian polka. Dont know if that was ever around pp. Would be amazed to see some coming back.

Best,

Tony

Does anyone like Grainger's Green Bushes (2p 6h) arrangement? I think it is still (generally) under copyright, but a rather fun work nonetheless!

cheers,
