Re: Light Music Thread
I have the score to Morton Gould's arrangement of "Star Dust". Would anyone be able to help me locate a set of parts? It seems to be permanently out of print and has been for some time, and I have exhausted my online searches. Thank you for helping me in my search.

Greetings!
Does anyone have the piano score of Eric Coates' "The selfish Giant"?
I'd be much obliged!
Kind regards,
Mr. T

Re: Light Music Thread
Marvelous!
I can only agree with the post above me; Coates was phenomenal!
Effortless modulations and transitions, an impeccable sense for harmony and melody and first class orchestration come together to form an unmistakable whole no one but him could have written (although stylistic hints from Edward German in the early works are apparent).
It must be admitted that formally his music was not terribly diverse; most of it consists of marches, waltzes and sentimental romances.
Nevertheless, he was very much a petit maître in his own right (this is not a derogative term!), who was in fact close friends with his former classmate Arnold Bax.
Thank you!
While we're at it, does anyone have a piano score of the "Four Ways Suite" and the "Merry Makers Overture" (provided the latter even exists)?

I don't have a scan, but the piano arrangement of the Four Ways Suite was issued by Chappell & Co. in 1928.

Thank you, I admittedly wasn't aware that Coates' music was still being published, although I imagine the demand to be rather negligible.Jim Faston wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 10:35 pm I don't have a scan, but the piano arrangement of the Four Ways Suite was issued by Chappell & Co. in 1928.
