Re: School of Syncopation - Jazz, Stride, Novelties & the Like
Greetings all,
Dave Kerr, the director of The New Century Ragtime Orchestra, asked me to post these great Jelly Roll Morton transcriptions (notated by J. Lawrence Cook) on his behalf.
Jazz and ragtime pianist and composer Tom Gordon had purchased them from Roy Carew and Tom's widow eventually gave them to Dave, who generously decided to share them with us.
Among the pieces you'll find "Don't You Leave Me Here" and that's one of the many existing versions of the old "I'm Alabama Bound" rag.
The piece was also recorded by many other artists under different titles, such as "Don't You Loudmouth Me" and "Daddy", the latter recently featured in piano roll version in a video posted by Frank Himpsl (let's check his great youtube channel!):

I've recently enjoyed a new recording featuring some excellent rarely-heard works. https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/p ... nd-czechia Does anyone happen to have copies of Mittler's Foolish Spring or Krauss-Elka's Thännhauser-Foxtrot?
Many thanks,
Daniel

This one’s a hoot – Schorshi-Batschi Fox Trot by Walter Gieseking. I cleaned up the currently circulating scan a bit as it is pretty rough. Title information, etc. as found.

Here’s a recording of Marc-André Hamelin playing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSFS-b29TPA
