Confession time, Fred. It's actually a complete reworking of a
piece by Thomas.F.D(unhill). It's from his The Wheel of Progress
Op.74 Bk.3 No.1.

I changed the time signature, the key signature and virtually every
detail of the melodic line, as a mischievous exercise in exploring the
grey area between where plagiarism ends and originality begins.
Only the basic rhythm and underlying harmonic structure remain
unaltered.

My conclusion is that it wouldn't be that difficult to concoct a 'new'
piece in this rather underhand manner, although there's a zero
level of satisfaction from having done so.

My apologies for leading you a 'merry dance', and I'll scan the
original score later today by way of compensation, and to enable
comparison with Dunhill's original piece.

ok so not really primary aim of this thread but seems most appropriate place to pose the question
the 21st Hamamatsu PIRA piano competition going on, I love this entry from a couple to few days ago, I'm usually better as id ing these works but this one escapes me, I feel Bartok at times , then Ravel, them Debussy, then I think maybe a less known neo impressionist bit ah I dont know, any of you wise and generous sages care to help me pin down who wrote this?
