This work is part of a larger cycle of chamber works that Alekseyev composed between 1963 and 1977 after Chuvash folk melodies. The overall cycle includes one work apiece for flute/piano, oboe/piano, bassoon/piano, and clarinet/piano, as well as a quintet for all four winds and piano. If anyone is interested, there is a flute quartet by Léon Kreutzer at the BNF in Paris. It delighted the audiences who had the privilege of hearing it in the mid-1800s, not only because of the unusual scoring (for the time), but because it seems to have been masterly written for the medium.

For anyone interested, I have midified the first movement of Léon Kreutzer's Quatuor de Flûtes on YouTube.
A pleasant piece, not demanding, and with a few nice harmonic touches. The most straightforward of the work's four movements I would venture.
