Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Aleksandr Mikhailov (1887-1942?) - can not seem to find out much about this composer, beyond a short list of works: Fantasia for Two Pianos (1931), Toccata (1931) and Etude (1917).
Duly posted the Etude (and apologies, a previous owner left an ink-pot on the cover, which went through to first page of music - however, all notes can be clearly read).

Thank you, Malcolm, for the Mikhailov--seems a composer worth pursuing if this etude is any indication. Some very interesting ideas explored therein.

Thanks Malcolm. Here's my B&W version of your file. As Fleubis stated above, a composer definately worth pursuing.

The Etude choréographique "Sphinx", Op.76 of Miron Levin has just been scanned by Sibley.

Yes, its a work I ordered from Sibley - also look out for his Op 73 Scherzo as well, as should appear very shortly. As an extra to start the new year - one of Levin's pieces for Left Hand only.Jim Faston wrote:The Etude choréographique "Sphinx", Op.76 of Miron Levin has just been scanned by Sibley.

Thanks Malcolm. I look forward the Scherzo. I believe you shared the Nocturne a while back.

Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
I can't find any reference within Pp site to Scriabin Etude op.8 no.12 - second version. I have the score and apparently the 2nd version, which is available even on youtube, was written one year after the first (1895) but I don't have recent books on Scriabin with more informations on this topic ...
