I did find a mention of an Elegija in A flat major (no later than 1948) in a list:
http://www.lmic.lv/core.php?afftor=&nam ... =%D2&l=%DE
Janis Kepitis "Pieces for Piano", published in Riga in 1948 (Jānis Ķepītis. Skaņdarbi klavierēm. - Rīga: LVI, 1948).
However, there is something very confusing here.
Vilma Cīrule calls these pieces 6 Miniatures, and the Elegy is #1. The other five pieces from the set (Joy, Evening Song, Unrest, Sadness, and Consolation) are in fact from Seven Mood Pictures (Noskanu Gleznas). Elegija is not among the seven. (The score of Mood Pictures was posted here about 2009. I can't find a link, but thanks to the generous person who posted these lovely pieces.)
Is she using the term 'miniatures' descriptively? Then why capitalize it, and why not give them their correct association?
She calls Consolation #6; it's No.7 in Mood Pictures.
