Dear Alfred,
Well, I sure like it. Quite the unexpected find. There is a lot going on in this fairly short piece.

Re: Music from the British Isles
I would like to share this information about an extraordinary composer of light music:
"Ivor Reginald Foster, who flourished in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, produced much light instrumental music: Beau Brummell for string orchestra, Evening Song for clarinet and piano, a Sonatina for oboe and piano and many movements for piano solo: Up and Away, Midsummer Memories, On The River, The Stately Pine Tree, An Autumn Tale (1949), A Summer Song (1959), Four Pastorals, The Spanish Dancer, A Bedtime Tune, Dainty Lady, Evening Contrasts, The Waterwheel, Lullaby, Gavotte, Toccatina, Scherzo and Siciliano."

Thanks for the info; I already download the scores and I also listened the performances by Phillip (splendid!).
“Evening Contrasts”, Op- 42 is my favorite, specially the Will-O’-The-Whisp (op. 42-2).
Regards.

Re: Music from the British Isles
I fingered all four (alfor) of Arnold Bax' published Piano Sonatas.
But don't worry, I will just post a few bits and pieces.
Bax' works are uc, at least in Europe (once Britain is no longer a member of the EU, things May change...).
As yet I don't want to provoke a copyriot!
I have to revise my former opinion:
Not Sonata No. 4, but Sonata No. 3 is the most easily accessible.
Pianistically excellent, late-romantic / impressionistic throughout, without a trace of "modernism"; a rewarding piece!
Here are two pages from the 2nd mvt. of Sonata no. 3 (a remarkable "folk" melody, strongly reminiscent of
those used by Charles Ives) and the complete 3rd mvt., which makes an excellent technical study, BTW.

Re: Music from the British Isles
Alfred, I am not familiar with Bax's sonatas (sonatas are available on IMSLP) so it's doubtful they are still under copyright). To date I have only played his nocturnes, "The Pricesse's Rose Garden" - which is truly delightful. So after having listened to these pieces via Amazon Prime, I then played through No.3 for the first time and indeed the notes fall under the fingers very nicely indeed.

Anyone with the Pensée Musicale by Landon Ronald (Enoch, 1908)? Arthur De Greef appears to have recorded it in the teens. Thanks.

Re: Music from the British Isles
was the missing piece from Bowen's Op. 20 - No. 02 Reverie d'Amour found?mballan wrote:York Bowen (1884-1961) – is fairly well served on IMSLP, althought here are a number of piano works missing from that catalogue. I will over the next month or two try to fill some of those gaps with works I currently hold in my collection and not been re-published.
First those works between Op 1 - 30 (I have stated those that are available on IMSLP). Those with ? are likely held through the Royal Academy of Music, unless held by other members.

Re: Music from the British Isles
I haven't seen a copy, but it appears to have been published by Williams in 1913. Here's a nice recording on YouTube:
