It's probably the Waltz in E minor (1933)................if no one has it, could try the Latvian National Library, they do hold a copy.

Peeter Süda (1883-1920). Estonian composer.

Over the past few months, I have been heavily involved in up-dating my 'book' on Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian composers - I'll update the Literature & Information thread shortly with these. As such have dug out various scores I hold for some of these composers (and found time to scan) !!

Here is the first - three works by Süda - Prelude, Fugue on a theme by Handal and Ave Maria.

Eino Tamberg (1930-2010). Noted Estonian composer and teacher. Wrote a number of orchestral works including symphonies, concertos, chamber music and vocal works.

As Tamberg only died in 2010, this is an example of his piano music, and is actually his earliest piano work, the Op 3 Sonatina in A minor from 1954 (I'm not aware this is still in print and available but will remove if proved otherwise). A composer well worth exploring for his orchestral works.

Thank you Malcolm! Interesting pieces indeed. I'm hoping someone can hazard a guess as to what the dashed phrase markings in the the Suda prelude are all about. To my mind you either have a phrase or you don't. The Tamberg sonatina is much to my liking and I think I've encountered this composer somewhere before as the harmonies are somewhat familiar to me.

In this case the dashed phrasings appear to be editorial.
