China Japan and the Far East

I have always been fascinated by Eastern-sounding music and the genuine article. I have started this new thread so that we can explore, hopefully with the help of our members from that part of the world, the music from the east. One thing that I find interesting is the amount of cross-influence and yet the clear message that it is music from the east even though it is constructed on western models.
I attach the files I have (all my own scans) not all of the highest scanning quality due to the usual problem of size and sort of paper used in the editions. The majority date from 1950 though there are one or two more recent. The site owner has agreed to me posting these for two reasons:
1. they are almost impossible to find in the west
2. I understand that in the Far east the policy is that when music fails to be sold after so many years everything that remains is returned to the paper mill for pulping, they have no concept of antiquarian value so that even where copyright exists there are no copies available for purchase.
Obviously if we receive objections from any publishers or their representatives we will remove the files.
I hope that we can discover more interesting music and talk about it here.

Dear HHH - thank you for posting all these oriental piano works.
Interestingly, the thread title sort of implies that China and Japan
aren't actually part of the Far East! I'd post a smiling smily just
here if I knew how to. Come to think of it, aren't the smilies provided
actually emoticons, since some of them aren't actually smiling?
Maybe I'm just being ultra pendantic right now. Sorry.

No it wasn't meant that way but as I expect few scores from some of the other countries in that region such as Indonesia and Mongolia, then I hoped that they wouldn't mind being included with the two big boys, in the same way that we have threads for South America and for the Caribbean.

Thanks HHH for this thread. There are two composers here that really ring my chimes here: Mamiya and Tanifuji --these are very interesting works. Let's hope that band 2 of the Tanifuji appears soon as well as the other Mamiya Sonatas. I find these compositions very worthwhile.

Thank you very much for these scores. Very interesting works, I have just been playing through the Variations on the Theme of
"Kojo no Tsuki", and find there is a page missing. Variatione 5 is incomplete. The parts of numbers at the bottom of the page suggest it is page 7.
This is rather a nice piece, and I am wondering if you have the missing page.

He Lu-Ting's (1903 - 1999) Berceuse.

A note on chinese names, which tend to cause some confusion in the West. The so called "last name" in the Western convention comes first in chinese, korean, vietnamese and other chinese influenced names, and the "first names" comes behind. So "He" is the so called "last name" or family name.
