Re: Toccatas
And here the Toccata in d minor of Paul Wittgenstein (not my scan) ,the younger brother of the philosopher Ludwig Wttgenstein, for whom among others Franz Schmidt, Korngold, Hindemith, Ravel, Prokovief and Britten composed piano works for the left hand alone.
Wittgenstein's family was called the Krupps of Austria , what means, that they were extraordinary rich, so Paul could spend a lot of money :
Korngold (1923) $3000
Strauss - Parergon (1925) $25000 (who has been well known for his greediness)
Ravel (1930) $6000
Prokofiev (1931) $5000
Britten (1941) $700 -which seems to have been nearly half of Britten's total income in 1941
I found the information about the payment here :

best regards , diros

I have removed the Shchedrin & Eshpai Toccatas because those composers are still alive. Those works are still available through the link posted above. Members really ought to be more careful about this kind of thing. Just because a work is available elsewhere does NOT mean the work can be posted here. Russia was very slow at regulating digital copyright - I'm not sure they have yet caught up.

Re: Toccatas
I might have guessed that Toccata King Ferruccio would be the first to see this post, thanks from me too for the superb link to the Russian site, lots of interesting things there not least trying to work out the composers names from the cyrillic, not always straightforward.Ferruccio wrote:dear Biljana,
