I like that album of Prokofiev 7th and Scriabin 3rd too. Very original and genuine reading.

Re: Prokofiev
The Gould recording is very interesting.it sheds a new light on the piece. Check out the Horowitz recording if you haven't, it's amazing :

Re: Prokofiev
I'm with you on this! But am enjoying exploring the 4th. My first experience in hearing Prokofiev on the piano was Horowitz and fell off the chair after hearing that--many decades ago. I feel Gould delves deeper into it, though.phikfy wrote:I like that album of Prokofiev 7th and Scriabin 3rd too. Very original and genuine reading.

Re: Prokofiev
The fruits of my labo(u)r (or as we say in German: Die Früchte meiner Leber):
SERGEI S. PROKOFIEV (PROKOFIEFF)
Sonata No. 7 op. 83
alfor fingered
What are the main benefits of working with a well-fingered edition?
You can save a lot of time. Period.
See my later posting (revised version!).
P.S. Dear Men in Black, dear Professional Adobe-is, would you mind
converting (and merging) this file accordingly?
Thank you very much!

Old version of Prokofiev's Sonata No.7 Op.83 deleted per Alfor's request. See here for his revised version:

Re: Prokofiev
Dear Alfred, thank you so very much for this excellently fingered Prokofiev 7th. I have been quietly anticipating this and wondering what surprises would await. As with every Alfor fingered edition--and this one is no exception and is one of the two of P's sonatas that I play--I found several opportunities to improve my sometimes sub-optimal fingering. A lovey hires Peters Edition is easy on the eyes, too! Your hard work is greatly appreciated!

thank you very much for your encouraging comment!
Currently preparing No. 5.
Having an ambiguous relationship with Prokofieff's "war sonatas",
I don't think that I will finger Nos. 6 or 8. First mvt. of No. 6
being the weakest mvt. of all of P.'s Sonatas, imho!
(Even the strongest fist won't improve the quality of this mvt.!)
All best

Re: Prokofiev
Alfred, I find several of the late sonatas distinctly unappealing....I've played them once and only once.....and got a bit bored. (Just today I got interested in Vladimir Nikolov and am awaiting some scores--which I find much more interesting.) Still, whatever you choose to post, I'll give it a run through and see how you solved some of the interesting technical challenges P provides.

Re: Prokofiev
To fleubis, Panama's most versatile musician
SERGEI S. PROKOFIEV (PROKOFIEFF)
Sonata No. 5 op. 38 / 135
alfor fingered
„Prokofieff meets Poulenc“:
Even in this revised version it may duly be called P.'s „French“ Sonata.
Among his very best works, imho.
P.S. 2nd mvt. has been nicknamed in Germany „Schildkröten-Jazz“ („Turtle-Jazz“)
Deleted!
See my later posting with improved fingering.
