Re: Bach - Hyphenated
Does anyone have a scan of Ray Lev's arrangement of the Vivaldi/Bach D minor Concerto, BWV 596 that they could share? I believe it was published as "Concerto Grosso" in 1949 by Carl Fischer. Thanks.

Re: Bach - Hyphenated
I've had the good fortune of being able to act sound engineer for a cycle of Bach's complete organ works which is currently ongoing in Stockholm, performed by master organist Ulf Norberg. This weekend's concert was the 8th in the series, and included a performance of the BWV 546 Prelude & Fugue in C minor which completely took my breath away. I made a quick survey of the piano transcriptions I have of the work yesterday, of which Szanto looked like the winner. Liszt transcribed it as well, but for once left a curiously bleak arrangement which to my ears doesn't re-create the sound world of large pipe organ very convincingly. Consulting Madlener's excellent Opus Transcribisticum here on the site I noticed Ivan Tscherlitzky left a transcription of the work as well however, which I have never seen but which I can well imagine could give Szanto a run for the money. Does anyone here happen to have a scan of this, or can recommend any other transcriptions of the work which might be worth taking a look at?

Lovely arrangements of these choral preludes. Some of these present interesting challenges when played up to speed. We are fortunate to have lots of great transcriptions like this to choose from.
Another great upload, Alfor.

Always great to revisit Liszt's wonderful transcription of The Great Fantasy & Fugue in g Minor--by far my favorite Back organ work.

Great, after the XV Tchai competition, now everyone starts to post as per normal.....
(Just curious, I thought everyone will have lots to cha about the competition, but it seems so silent for the last two weeks)
