Le Trésor des Pianistes
Malcolm and others have posted music by Louise Farrenc (e.g. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=201&p=11113&hilit=farrenc#p11113). She and her husband Aristide compiled and published, in twenty volumes in 1861, 'Le Trésor des Pianistes', - 'Collection des ouvres choisies des maitres de tous les pays et de toutes les époques'. There are copies of this in various libraries throughout the world, and in particular a copy from the University of Ottawa was scanned (https://archive.org/details/letrsordespian18611farr) and also uploaded to IMSLP as complete scans of each volume.
This thread will contain all twenty volumes, but I have edited each volume into its component sections so that people can get a better idea of what it there and only download the bits they think they would be interested in.
I'm starting off with the Introduction, written (of course) in French. Regards
Fred

In the Muzio Clementi thread (viewtopic.php?f=11&p=30229#p30226) ...
Also naming conventions are not always consistent. The term 'sonata' in TDP is somewhat overused and inaccurate, but I've kept the titles nonetheless.

Yes, that's undoubtedly where Farranc got these from. You will find that if you follow the trail of publications throughout the 19th century, many rely on the same sources and perpetuate the same errors, e.g. Lully = Loeillet, Michael Angelo Rossi = Luigi Rossi etc.ClementiSociety wrote:The Porpora in vol6 is exactly the same selection as in Clementi's 'Practical Harmony' vol1 p38-50, where they are described as 'fugatos'.
