I'm not sure at all, but your suggestion makes more sense, so I've changed it. Unfortunately, this last volume didn't include the 'composers' bios' sections that were found in some of the others.

No problem, Alfor! I've been collecting these scores for years and am still trying to figure out all the different 'classes' and 'difficulty grades', etc... The classes I've seen most often are:

младшие (mladshiye) = junior or younger
средние (sredniye) = intermediate or middle
старшие (starshiye) = senior or elder

Here's another 'middle' volume's TOC. I suppose this is related to the previous one, though they dropped out the 'Etudes'. Maybe it's two different series...honestly, who knows  :

Pieces, vol. 2 (Piano Music for Music Schools, Middle Classes) (1973)

Alexander Grigoryevich FRIEDLANDER (FRIDLENDER) (Ural Region) - Pieces (3); 1. Zyohra Jan, 2. Skylark, 3. My Horse (info at http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 6bih%3D920 )

I'm supposing the publishers released a different series of volumes for each of the different classes. This is the 'senior' issue from the same year as the previous 'middle' issue. Sakkilari and Baltin must have been fashionable that year, but the rest seems to vary with the editors' tastes...

To any who are newcomers to this thread, any composer I list who doesn't have a info/workslist link is either very well-known (e.g. Prokofiev, Shchedrin) or has one elsewhere on the forum (e.g. Khudoley and Sheyko from this bunch). There's only a handful of names that are complete mysteries, and I try my best to point that out.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pieces, vol. 2 (Piano Music for Music Schools, Senior Classes) (1973)

Darius MILHAUD (France) - Romance
Jacques IBERT (France) - The Little White Donkey...
Jacques IBERT (France) - The Deserted Palace...
Jacques IBERT (France) - The Crystal Cage...
Heitor VILLA LOBOS (Brazil) - Pulcinella
German Germanovich GALYNIN - Aria
German Germanovich GALYNIN - Dance
Rodion Konstantinovich SHCHEDRIN - Two-Voice Invention
Igor Leonidovich KHUDOLEY (KHUDOLEI) - Masques
Igor Leonidovich KHUDOLEY (KHUDOLEI) - Chorus, op. 12/4
Boris Vladimirovich SAKKILARI (Armenia) - Melody
Boris Vladimirovich SAKKILARI (Armenia) - The Squirrel
Nikolai Fadeyevich SHEIKO (SHEYKO) - Prelude
Alexander Alexandrovich BALTIN - Pieces (3) (from 'Musical Pictures'); 1. Puppet Foxtrot, 2. Blues, 3. Fashionable Doll
Vaag Georgyevich ARARATYAN (Armenia) - Pieces (3); 1. Prelude, 2. Impromptu, 3. Reminiscence

As (a long time) before, special thanks belongs to relative and Jim Faston for this volume. Most of the issues in this series were for more than one of the 'classes' discussed above. This one specifies all three at the top of the second page:

Emma Vartanovna MIHRANYAN (MIGRANYAN, etc..) (Armenia) - Pieces (9) from the Album 'Through Children's Eyes'; 1. Streamlet, 2. Highlanders, 3. Toccatina, 4. Scherzo, 5. Game of Hide-and-Seek, 6. ...and the final issue in that series, released in the year that would be the Soviet Union's last. This one is almost entirely comprised of 'national' composers, including the only Korean composer I've seen in any Soviet publication. As well, Scriabin fans may find the Nemtin album interesting. Thanks again to relative and Jim for making this and the rest of these available. The only number that's missing is number 8. The rest can be found in the search engine:

Children's Albums by Soviet Composers, for piano, vol. 14 (Young Pianist's Library) (1991)

Lyudmila Alekseyevna NOVOSELOVA (NOVOSYOLOVA) (Mari El, Chuvashia) - Pieces (10), from the album 'Northern Lights'; 1. Belarussian Round-Dance, 2. Sentiment, 3. Chuvash Tune, 4. National Character (Sculptures in Erzya), 5. Duet, 6. Bashkir Games, 7. Gems of the Urals, 8. Dreaming of the Sun in Chukotka, 9. Come Out to Dance with All, 10. The Reindeer Sleigh
Valery Lazaryevich SHAULOV (Dagestan) - Pieces (6); 1. Legend, 2. Two Friends, 3. Dance of the Little Horseman, 4. Dialogue at the Godekan (central gathering place), 5. Waltz, 6. Country Holiday (info at http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 6bih%3D920 )
Durdy NURYEV (NURIYEV, NURYIEV) (Turkmenistan) - Pieces (5); 1. Song Without Words, 2. Waltz, 3. Turkmen Dance, 4. Sad Melody, 5. Toccatina
Sovet (Sergei) Afanasyevich VARELAS (Uzbekistan) - Pieces (5); 1. Plaintive, 2. Motion, 3. Lullaby, 4. Melody, 5. Sad Thirds
TEN CHU (Korea) - Pieces (7), on Korean Themes; 1. Korean Dance, 2. Scary Story, 3. Korean Lament, 4. Musical Moment, 5. Playing on the Black Keys, 6. The Two Wives, 7. Lilishka on a Walk (info at http://translate.googleusercontent.com/ ... A9NBqq3a-g )
Salim Manusovich KRYMSKY (Karachay-Cherkessia) - Pieces (6), on Tuvan folk themes; 1. The Walnut Taiga, 2. Little Shepherd (Pastushok), 3. Theme and Variation, 4. It Grew Dark, 5. Breeze (Sonatina), 6. Naigrysh (folk melody)
Alexander Pavlovich NEMTIN - Children's Album; 1. Lilac, 2. Octaves, 3. Babushka, 4. Mazurka (D minor), 5. Bagatelle, 6. Mazurka (G minor), 7. Pastorale, 8. Fantastic Waltz (info at http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 6bih%3D920 )
Konstantin Romanovich GEIST (GEYST) (Mari El) - Fairy Tales (5); 1. The Vision, op. 114/3, 2. In a Dream, op. 114/5, 3. Striking Clock, op. 115/2, 4. Awakening, op. 116/3, 5. In the Dark Forest, op. 116/5

Strangely, this once ubiquitous album piece is almost never
referred to in its proper context by its numerous publishers.
It's actually a 2H arrangement of the 7th. movement of
Ilyinsky's orchestral ballet suite Noure and Amitra Op13.
