Alex wrote:I am nearly done typesetting Das Gebet by Bortkiewicz. I am having difficulty recognizing the German words on this manuscript, and in locating this poem online. Does anyone have a link to the exact poem in this song, or can write down the German lines for me to place into the score? The score was posted by Malcolm in this thread. Thank you!

I really appreciate highly the job you are doing here
and as a lover of Bortkiewicz music and German native speaker
it was out of question to help you.

It was not an easy job - though German speaker - but
now I`m quite confident that I found the right words of "Das Gebet"

Looking forward to see the score !!!

Das Gebet (Bortkiewicz)
----------------------------

Wenn schwer des Lebens Last mich drückt
Und ich ganz traurig bin,
So bete ich und mich beglückt
Der Worte tiefer Sinn.

Unfassbar ist die Wunderkraft
die aus den Worten weht
Es liegt ein Märchchen zauberhaft
Im heiligen Gebet.

Erleichtert von der Schmerzen Last
Der Zweifel schnell erbleicht
Beruhigt möcht ich Weinen fast

Mir ist so leicht
Mir ist so leicht
So leicht
So leicht
So leicht

Wonderful. Thank you so much, Didi! Now you have taken an integral part in our work to revitalize Bortkiewicz' music. I may call on your authority again in the future, because I plan to typeset all of the manuscripts that Malcolm posted. Your quick response is touching, and I appreciate your effort so much.

My pleasure - feel free to do so.
It´s in my own interest since I really feel that Bortkiewicz has written wonderful music
which really deserves the effort to revive it.

Bortkiewicz Op47 No1 Das Gebet (typeset).pdf
I am very happy to share my first manuscript typeset. I read through it with my wife and it is very cool! If there are any mistakes or issues in the score, please let me know.
