Timtin wrote:For your weekend edutainment (entercation?), here are 10 anagrams
of compositions by one amazing composer, plus one anagram which is
entirely unrelated, but which sounds like it should be related.
Can you identify the compositions, the composer, and the (Pianophilian)
odd one out? Enjoy!
1. Tangle (1'5)
2. Saluting (8)
3. Silly arch (9)
4. A vast lilac (5,5)
5. Temerous cups (4,8)
6. Dreamier libel (1'12)
7. Delicious and not (2,4,2,7)
8. It is obscurantic lumps (4,16)
9. VIP hocus-pocus - I'm manly (4,16)
10.Stoic clues - bulimiac vamp (4,18)
11.No slushily comic vacuum pump (9,16).
Timtim, Timtim, you've done it again, clue 8 should be "It is obscurantic rumps" not lumps
then the answers will be as follows
1. L'Etang (starring Robert Redford)
2. Gulistan (soon to be part of Greater Moscow)
3. Chrysilla (Priscilla's significant other)
4. Villa Tasca (served rare please)
5. Opus secretum ( sounds very dodgy to me, is it patented)
6. L'irremediable (obviously not, it didn't work)
7. Un nido di scatole ( now you know why it didn't work)
8. Opus Transcribisticum ( Ah! the only thing that does work)
9. Opus Clavisymphonicum (you makes your mind up and you takes your choice)
10. Opus Clavicembalisticum (surely Opus Verybombasticum)
11. Opusculum Clavisymphonicum ( aargghhh! lance the boil and get a load of mucky stuff for your trouble)
thus the answers are that they are all by Sorabji with the exception of No.8 which is by Ludwig the Listmaker
..and the latest discovery the OpusTimtinicum meccanosymphonicocalculatoricum which has just found a new prime number
best wishes
