Don't know much about this composer. He's not the same Uspensky as the composer who wrote the sketches after Gogol's Dead Souls.

This composer was one of Yevgeny Golubev's students in the Moscow Conservatory:

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Thanks to pianist Olga Solovieva and Toccata Classics, we finally got a CD of piano works (which includes this piece) by this student and avid supporter of Shostakovich and Myaskovsky. Sadly, he spent a good part of his life having to cope with serious mental illness, which was only exacerbated when his work was declared 'formalist' by authority figures like Tikhon Khrennikov:
German Germanovich GALYNIN
Suite, for piano (1945); 1. Toccata, 2. Intermezzo, 3. Dance, 4. Aria, 5. Finale

Caostotale.....many thanks for the recent postings from you, some wonderful material as always.
A few pieces from a more well-known Russian Romantic composer - Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894). I don't think I've post these before, and they do not appear to be available through IMSLP.

Op 38 Suite of Ten Pieces (Nos 4 & 5 only] Op 69 Cinq Morceaux [complete] Op 71 Trois Morceaux [complete] Then Does the World become an Eden [transcription from the oratorio "The Tower of Babel"]

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Alfor posted that very set (the 'Tetrad 1" you located in Worldcat) a few years back:caostotale wrote:Here's a small subset of the collection from a volume of Soviet concert pieces. I'm not sure if the whole cycle has ever been published. I spotted a 'Tetrad 1' volume of preludes by this composer on Worldcat, but can't access it as it's from outside of my country. Here's the composer's bio:

Actually, I believe they're from the same set, but they aren't the same pieces. But if they are, we have an alternative scan!

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
It might be two separate sets. The 'no. 2' included in my post (the first one with '2' in parenthesis) is a different piece from the 'no. 2' in Alfor's.

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Sorry if this is a vague query/request...
I remember seeing a Romance by Gliere, many years ago. I am unable to find the score... I distinctly remember it was not the one he wrote for children... it was quite a difficult piece the way I remember it. Does anyone know which one I am talking about?
Thanks,
Parag

You mean this one Parag, a piece I played very often a few years ago ( from 2004) and a great piece .parag wrote:Sorry if this is a vague query/request...
