Hello All,

Forgive me for long absence (it will continue a little while longer) and also forgive me for this completely off topic request which I post as a matter of urgency. I thought there was a "piano music for left hand alone" thread - but I can not find it. I actually have a lot of such music (and some for right hand alone too).

The urgency arises from a friend's request regarding an apparently famous / well known LH only piece either by, or in imitation of, or transcribed from a piece by Ravel. I was confident that I would have it somewhere, but on searching my stacks and files I find that I do not have ANY Ravel related LH only pieces.

Does anyone know what piece my friend might have in mind ? It is apparently very challenging. Does anyone have it ? Could you please post it ?

Forum moderators please move this to the thread I thought existed if it does in fact exist.
Apologies for off topic request.

Thanks,
Regards,

Hi Tobyjj,
There is a Piano Music for Left Hand thread, last added to on the 25th. November.

This site has quite a bit of interesting information on the left hand repertoire:-

Jean Paques Piano Novelties

Post by fhimpsl »

Hello Folks,

After an extended absence I'm back, hopefully with some scores to share which you will all enjoy. During the 1920s, two extremely talented composers hailing from Belgium composed a number of very well scored pieces. I believe that in the past I've already uploaded what I have of one of them; Theo Uden Masman. (I hope that is the case, for at the present my popular sheet music scores are in complete disarray). Another great Belgian talent was Jean Paques, who also recorded several of his most successful novelties. Paques was active professionally at least until the 1950s, when he recorded several LP's of cocktail piano music.

Here attached is one of Paques' great novelties, entitled "Pianotes." Enjoy!

All Best,

Frank

Here is another of Jean Paques' great novelty piano solos. He recorded this piece, along with "Pianotes" and "Hot Piano" for Edison Bell in the late 1920s, demonstrating that he was also a brilliant pianist.

There are many more piano novelties by Paques, which I will be glad to post after locating them (a daunting task at present, but not impossible).

Hello Frank,
It is nice to see your smiling face back on PP. Also thank you for these two scores.
Have you been able to download lately, as there is a LOT to catch up on if you have not.

Best wishes.

Peter.

Dear Friends Peter and Toby,

Thanks for your kind words. I'm happy to be back; working on catch-up right now! My first priority will be to try and get the other Jean Paques tunes out of the abyss! I know they're photocopies, but very clear and dark. Hoping to have these up in the near future, along with whatever other oddities I can dig up!

All Best,

Frank :D
