You're quite welcome Timtin! Thanks SO MUCH for the index!! When you write "cleaning," do you mean removing little dark spots that shouldn't be there or something else? (Actually, the uncleaned index looks quite nice--very readable!) Perhaps it wouldn't always be necessary to "clean" (though it's been very kind of you to do so). That first title that "grabs" me in your index is "Raggin' thro' the Rye." I'd enjoy seeing that posted (whenever you get the chance). BTW, I just finished posting 5 rags on the "Rags Thread" so check them out!

Hi Rob - 'cleaning' does indeed mean the removal of little dots,
plus those black lines round the sides. Unfortunately this has
become rather an obsession in the last few years, as other
contributors here have gradually raised the scanning standards.

I thank you for the Art Tatum ( a man greatly admired by all true syncopated piano aficionados) and the Wirges compostitions, too--I didn't have all of those so I was thrilled to see them!

Hi Everyone!

Here's my latest posting. This is courtesy of an unknown eBay seller which my Dutch friend noticed had posted the whole ragtime score. The score's not terribly difficult to read when enlarged, but the copyright is. I think it's MCMI, which would be 1901, but I'm not sure. It could also be 1902, 1904 or 1905. I can't find this title in any of those years in the Catalog of Copyright Entries so I tagged my midi with "Copyright not registered with the US Copyright Office." However, if anyone finds information to the contrary, I'd love to know! The PDF file has the:

enlarged cover scan from eBay
my 4 page slightly corrected score
enlarged versions of each of the pages from the original score
the score scans (original size).

The most interesting thing about this score is that there's not a single dynamic or articulation. Nothing! BTW, it's a great piece for Halloween as the first theme sounds a little spooky (fun spooky, though ). Actually, this is a really nice early rag!!

I've included a midi with corrections noted.

And, I found some interesting info. on the internet about the street where this was published along with a photo of the actual street from the early 1900's--perhaps the publisher's building is in the photo!

Thank you Rob C for the mention - I do see a reasonably clear horizon looming soon and hope to be back with regularity (if not a vengeance).

Thanks for your recent postings and especial thanks for remembering that I at least really appreciate a sound file to go with the sheet. I must be honest, however, I haven't had time to look at or listen to either and I am so out of concentration that I although I did download, I apparently tried to do so twice. These are the frantic moments of not wishing to miss anything! (Despite the lack of time to pay attention to anything!)

I often move music files around (for reasons that end up frustrating even me) - given the volume of music files that I have [and an inconsistent method of databasing or classifying my files] - I often find that I have apparent duplicates - though visually I can't see any difference, the difference manifests itseld in the file size only. I don't wish to delete files, since it may be that the real difference is a cover edit or color change, or minor revision somewhere. This leads to question 1.

Question 2 is related but may need a moderator's intervention.... I have completely lost track of what files I have previously posted [as I think was pointed out to me in an earlier posting !] -

Question 1 - what software or system or process do others use to keep their file "holdings" in order, --- and also (involves Question 2), is there a simple way to retrieve a list of previous file postings on this forum so as to avoid duplication. Leads to question 3 [FOR FREDBUCKET ?] Could a cumulative folder of posts be assigned to a member's profile?

Rob C - I seem to have come across several (at least 3) compositions of Harold Dixon's not previously mentioned in my various stacks - none are instrumentals, they are all collaborative songs and in very poor condition. I can't even remember when or where I got them from. Any interest?
