You are welcome!

A well-known but somewhat neglected composer. This edition is part of the once famous "Tonmeister-Ausgabe". Not Urtext, but edited by the most famous pianists of the 1920s, with some helpful fingering and pedaling indications.

*His 2nd wife was pianist Frieda Hodapp (or "Hut ab", as Max Reger used to call her).

Dear alfor, I have just followed up the first version with the score you have so kindly provided of Cyril Scotts An English Waltz.
There are a few differences (mostly on the last page) between your version and and the one I put on. Than I followed your version up with the 2nd version which is on volume three of Leslie De'Ath's recording of the complete piano (and two piano) works. There are a lot of differences between that version and ours. So sadly yours is not the second version. But it is interesting none the less, as it appears that Scott made what could be called three versions of the work, though your version and mine as I have said are very much the same. Extra notes in some of the chords, and on the last page several bars take out.
I hope to find the second version in my collection, (if indeed I do have it) but the task is daunting as I have a huge amount of music and as other members have stated, since moving house things have become increasingly difficult.
Best wishes, and again many thanks for all your posts. You have certainly added an amazing amount of music to my collection.

Peter.

I love this piece !! Hmmm.. this was posted just recently as the "first version" by liveforpiano ...yet I think that both scans are of the same score...correct me if I'm wrong - I'd love to see both versions ! Nice selection from Mr. Scott!!

Hubert Giesen (1898-1980), was a well-known accompanist. As reported in his memoirs, with this paraphrase he wanted to show that he was able to write "à la Godowsky". Giesen had a quite unusual hobby (at least for pianists): he was an enthusiastic woodworker!
