 , you were so polite with the 'may slightly'. Others might not be inclined to be so charitable! ;)

"We don't take kindly to Reinecke 'round these parts." :)
I also enjoyed your small comment, although I don't have enough experience with his music to offer an opinion. I have a stack of all that is available on IMSLP waiting to be played somewhere at home, so I'll have to get to it sometime soon.

I would say that to my ears, Reineke's music sounds more out of the 18th century than the 19th century. But I have little enthusiasm for Reineke when the rest of my Alfor collection is so vast and beckoning for another play-through. Anyway, just IMHO.......

Dear Alfred,

Thank you so much for the Reinecke Suite! This is a composer I actively collect and enjoy very much. The Suite is beautiful and kind to my fingers, which is a good thing right now! And dear fleubis, I completely agree Reinecke sounds a bit earlier re. the presumed publication date of this suite (ca. 1840-1850? I really don't know), but still early romantic (again, imho). I think it's interesting that he dedicated this work to the great piano builder Julius Bluthner also. A major opus from this composer, for which I am very grateful.

As Always,

dein
Franz :D

Dear Frank,

you are welcome!! - If you love Fuchs, you will also love Kirchner!

Alternative scan:

Theodor KIRCHNER
Aquarellen op. 21
Kirchner Aquarellen op.21.pdf
Some real gems among these 12 pieces of medium difficulty. Schumann and Brahms were Kirchner's musical gods and there is indeed a slight Brahms influence in some of these. Although masterly written it is doubtful whether they are suitable for the concert hall, because they appear a bit introvert and lack every bit of showiness. Kirchner occasionally did write virtuosic pieces (cf. op. 9 or op. 25), but on a first try I musically do prefer this opus.

Dear Alfor, I like the Kirchner Aqiarerellen as it has some interesting variations on waltz time and is much easier for me to grasp than his sonata, which I still don't have a handle on. Thanks for posting this.
