Alfor's Rarities

I've had the symphonies of Gernsheim in my Amazon wishlist for years now, having randomly seen it on my product suggestions. So when I saw you posting his works Alfor, and remembering that I can print an unlimited amount of music at school, I printed out the complete piano works that you have provided (excepting the one you have yet to post). I have been playing through his works, which are completely new to me, and going chronologically by opus number. I have to say, this music is wonderful, genius, beautiful, and just plain fun to play! I have played up to his Romanze Op.15 and oh, how gorgeous it is. The Suite was particularly pleasing to play also. I can't wait to play more of this composer, even with the little I have played so far. Thank you so much Alfor for sharing this composer to all of us. I'm going to buy that collection of symphonies now.

Dear Alfor, thank you for you recent postings of Riesemann, Tcherepin and Roparts.

Quite a disparate groups of composers. Much fun playing the Riesmann pieces and the only piece of his in my collection. I think the Tcherepnin Nocturne to be a really lovely, and really lives up to its title and present real pianistic opportunities to display some subtle contrasts. The Ropartz piece is a pleasant surprise and that you suggest it to be like late Faure forced me to drag out some Faure pieces not looked at in years and I find your observation quite astute.

I assume he was a good friend of Rachmaninoff. He published the book

"Rachmaninoff's recollections as told to O. v. Riesemann. Translated from the German manuscript by Mrs. Dolly Rutherford."

To my knowledge the book was never published in German!
