'Melody of love', his opus 600, is Engelmann's best known tune which was in print for many years. In 1954 lyrics were added to the piano melody by Tom Glazer who created a number one hit in the Billboard Charts. Other recordings of the song among others by Tony Martin, Frank Sinatra and Billy Vaughn, whose version found its way in the US-charts, too.

Hello FW190,

Your Engelmann posting spree is very impressive - for a long time having searched, I could find very little of his material. Your reference to Melody of Love being Opus 600 (!) is a little bit alarming.
You wouldn't happen to have a list of his complete works would you ? Maybe, you have them all and intend to post them

Anyway, I think I'll wait until you've exhausted your source before posting any fill-ins (which may not exist by the time you've finished).

Love all the Engelmann pieces which you've been posting. I shall enjoy working through them. In fact I remember learning the "Melody of love" years ago. You wouldn't happen to have his "Cannon off the cush" would you? That's another fun piece. I used to have the music for that, but can't find it.

I think you'll find that "Cannon Off The Cush" is by HARRY Engelman - not Hans Engelmann.

Hi Toby! Thanks very much. Yes, you're right, I'm getting my Engelman/ns mixed up. I tried unsuccessfully to learn this years ago but found it hard. Now I'm a little older, and hopefully a better player, I was thinking about picking it up again.

So far as I know the 'Taps! March' was the last piece composed by Engelmann. Unfortunately the bottom of my Engelmann Treasure Chest is reached now - nothing is left.
btw. If you find works by a certain Heinrich Engel or Pierre Renard or Charles Lindsay on your HD or elsewhere, those names are just pseudonyms used by Engelmann.

I don't think that there is a realy complete list of works by Engelmann somewhere, but the 'most nearly complete' was made by Bill Edwards for ragpiano some years ago, s. attachement.
Another little helper for collectors is - as always - the wonderful 'little handbook' of Herr Pazdirek.

I am posting this in response to a member request. The composer - Ambroise Farman - is a complete mystery, and I suspect that this is a pseudonym. His music seems to have been published exclusively by JH Larway & Co of London. This 1922 piece is very much of its time.
