Adam (von Ahn) Carse (May 19, 1878 - 1958) was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was educated in Hanover and was a Macfarren scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, London where he studied composition with Frederick Corder.
Duly posted, his Variations in D Major. Peter.

Thal, is this also the same as the concertino for piano and string orchestra Op.103?thalbergmad wrote:The CPS does have a scan of the Simple Concerto which is attached. It is no longer in print or available on hire, so I feel I am on safe ground here. The scan is not a good one.
The Concertino is on the CPS paper inventory, which would indicate we have an original that has not been scanned. The chances of me finding it is remote to say the least.
As for the Peacock Pie, I have no record at all. Works for piano and strings are not natural targets for CPS activities, so our holdings for this genre is somewhat feeble.

Until I find it, I cannot really say. I have the simple concerto and concertino listed as two separate entries.
Admin is not really my strong point and I detest record keeping.

and the attached may answer Tony's question.
I heard one of the symphonies once; I was not impressed. I suspect smaller, lighter forms suited him better.

Unable to locate any specific biographical data on Cyril S Christopher [beyond he taught composition in London]....but here are his three scintilating Concert Preludes.

Maybe Robert Walker of the University of New South Wales
could supply some information about Cyril Christopher, having
been one of Christopher's composition students.
