Just to be aware that Gozenpud also used other variations of his name - Hasen, Gazen, Gazenpud etc. Alfor kindly posted under Gozenpud - Op 32 Jewish Folksong Suite, Op 31 Sonata No. 3 and Op 53 Vol. 1 Preludes, and under the name Hasen, the Op 10 Sonata...they are all the same composer[/u].
Thank you for these!
I know that there is no "H" in the russian language - so Horowitz is Gorowitz, Haydn is Gaydn, etc. But it obviously takes a linguist to explain why "Gazen" (Hasen) is identical with "Gozenpud" ("Gazen" = "Gozen", but what about the ending "pud")??!!
Hi Alfor

Yes, I know it seems strange and I've no idea why Gozenpud used a shortened version of his name*, but this has now been confirmed from a couple of Russian sources, one being colleagues at the St Petersburg Conservatoire !

Malcolm

* I suppose I do something similar with my surname......its actually Henbury-Ballan, but for ease I just use Ballan the majority of the time......maybe Gozenpud felt the same ??? At least Gozen [Gazen or Hasen] sounds better than just 'Pud' !!!!

Something of an easier nature, and ideal for those who teach young performers........Nikolai Mikhailovich Ladukhin (1860-1918), two works: Op 10 Twelve Miniatures, a few of these I've posted before, here is the 1st book complete Nos 1-6 [alas I do not have Book 2 yet....but searching], and the complete "From the Children's Repertoire".

Can one imagine a concert of Goss-Custard & Gozenpud? It would be rather filling I'd like to think.

Feinberg Sonatas 10 and 11

Post by cclark94 »

Hey, does anyone have the scores to Samuel Feinberg's tenth and eleventh piano sonatas (or know where they can be found)? I've looked all over the place and haven't ever come accross them. Thanks.

Hello cclark94 and welcome to Pianophilia. I thought I had a copy of Sonata No. 11 and will check for you [unless another member else can offer up a copy]. Alternatively, I do know that Goldsmith's College in London do have a copy of the score and for a very reasonable fee can copy it for you. Just do an internet search on Goldsmith's..............then Russian Music Centre and you're see mention of the Malcolm Henbury-Ballan collection........which includes the 11th sonata, and you can contact the librarian for a photocopy.
