I've got a rather rare Sanaeyev to post later from the Sibley collection. Two more composers from that collection.

Mikhail Andreyevich Ostroglazov. Beyond a brief mention in Montagu-Nathan's 'History of Russian Music', I have yet to discover any further information about this composer. Hopefully the following scores will throw a little illumination on this composer's eclectic style.

Henrique Oswald (1852-1931), a Brazilian composer, born in Rio de Janeiro, of Swiss origin. Not a Russian true.....although note dedication of this work to Rebikov, and published by Jurgenson. Aleksey Vasilyevich Parusinov [Paroussinov] Born 1882, Saratov,: died 1961, Moscow. Composer. Graduated in 1910 from the school of the Moscow Philharmonic Society having studied composition with Koreshchenko. From 1919-32, took up a teaching positon at the Mussorgsky Technical School; then from 1932-41 at the Ivanov-Ippolitov School of Music; from 1943 taught at the music school linked to the Moscow Conservatoire.

Sofia Victorovna Piontkovska-Goumouska. Little information know beyond that mentioned in the score [I'll translate when I have some more time].

Nikolai Sergeyevich Potolovsky. Born 1878, Moscow: died 1927 same. Musicologist. Graduated in 1904 from the music & drama school with the Moscow Philharmonic Society, where he had studied cello with Ehrlich and composition with Ilinsky. Joined the faculty of same school in 1906 [professor from 1912]. Undertook further teaching /administrative posts with various schools, music institutes etc.

Boris Leonidovich Sabaneyev. Born 1880: died 1918 Moscow. Brother to Leonid. Russian organist and composer. Graduated in History and Philosophy from Moscow University. Studied piano with Zvereva and Paul de Schlozer, and music theory with Taneyev at Moscow Conservatoire. He graduated in 1903. From 1903 -05 and 1913-18 he taught at the conservatoire and from 1917 as senior lecturer. He was author of several articles on the construction of organs. The majority of his compositions are for organ [Fugue in Eb minor, Canzone phrygienne and Fugue dorienne], he also arranged Glazunov’s Symphony No. 8 Op 83 for piano solo. Especially for Duirton, the Fugue for organ, arranged for piano solo by the composer.

Nikolai Nikolayevich Sokolovsky. Born 1865: died 1921, Moscow. Music theorist. Graduated in 1888 from the Moscow Conservatoire, where he had studied violin with Grzhimali, and music theory with Taneyev. From 1888-1890 taught at the music school in Kazan and from 1890 at the Moscow Conservatoire (professor from with 1904) teaching violin and viola, and from 1906, music theory. Member of the string quartet of the Moscow department of the RMO. He was the author of many work on music theory, composed instructional pieces, and helped to prepare examination papers for various educational establishments.
