BENELUX - Music from Belgium, Netherlands & Luxembourg
The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are much neglected countries if it comes to music. Let's change that bit by bit in this thread.
To start with: Philipp Rüfer (1844-1919) was a composer from Belgium (born in Liège). He worked as a teacher in Berlin at the institute of Xaver Scharwenka. His most important pupil was Heinz Tiessen. He wrote some large scale works (an opera "Merlin", a Symphony, a Violin Concerto) and obviously some smaller piano works, among them this Phantasy Piece. Edit: Sorry, the original file lacked page 3. Now here is the corrected score.

Re: Music from the Low Countries
Since when? I had to go to musiclessons since I was 4 years old. I still see myself walking down the street with my baby-recorder, asking myself "why do my parents want me to do this?" I was neglected!klavierelch wrote:The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are much neglected countries if it comes to music.

It's a shame that scores by Louis Andriessen cannot be posted. He is the most talented out of his whole family, in my opinion!
Re: Music from the Low Countries
He is alive and composing.Celebrated his 70th birthday with a concert in the Concertgebouw a month ago.Interesting to know is that his father Hendrik was a major source of inspiration to him.His Ricercare was played there.jre58591 wrote:It's a shame that scores by Louis Andriessen cannot be posted.
