Ede Poldini
Last month my composer of the month was Grunfeld…….and for March……Ede [Eduard] Poldini. Hungarian composer. Born 1869, Budapest – died 1957, Vevey, Switzerland. He studied at the Budapest Conservatoire, and later with Mandyczewski [theory] and Epstein [piano] in Vienna. In 1908 he moved to Vevey in Switzerland and remained there until his death. In 1935 he received the order of the Hungarian Cross and in 1948 was awarded the Hungarian Pro Arte Prize. His works include three operas “The Vagabond & the Princess”, “The Carnival Marriage” and “Himfy”, and a ballet “Night’s Magic”. Of his 156 opus numbers the vast majority are for piano and a number gained considerable popularity during his lifetime.
Hopefully, in time, this thread will cover the majority of Poldini’s works and will include works aimed for the concert hall, to lighter works for the salon, or for younger performer.

Wow! Malc & Mr P---a big thank you for finding yet another interesting composer. Am enjoying Poldini's etudes now. At first blush, he seems an excellent miniaturist.
