Julius Schulhoff (1825 - 1898) Noted pianist and composer of many enjoyable salon pieces. Studied in Prague and then proceeded to Paris, where he gave a series of concerts under the patronage of Chopin, to whom he dedicated his first composition, an Allegro brillant. He made a long tour through Austria, England, Spain and Southern Russia to great acclaim. He returned to Paris dedicating his time to teaching and composition. After the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, he settled in Dresden, and then later to Berlin shortly before his death.
A number of works by Schulhoff are available on IMSLP [Opuses 3, 6, 8, 10, 17, 20, 22, 30, 33, 35, 48, a Romanze and a transcription of Mozart's Minuet and Trio]. But here is a cornucopia of works to fill some of the gaps [with special thanks to Maestro P].
