Does anyone have or know where I can get an online score(free or otherwise)for the string quartet version of Schumann's Traumerei? A frined needs this for a funeral service. I've been searching online. I get many hits but have yet to find the score.

Does anyone possess a scan of the score (and even parts) of Josef Suk's Second String Quartet? It's a fantastic piece, for anyone who doesn't know it, but I've been looking in vain for the materials for two decades ...

I'm looking for piano transcriptions of the Bartok and Shostakovich string quartets. Piano solo or 4 hands would be good. Does anyone have some ?

Shostakovich 9-11 piano four hands scanned by Alfor I believe and probably still available on his thread if you do a search.

I'm wondering if anyone has (a) ever heard of and/or (b) seen and would be kind enough to post any of the string quartets by the essentially self-taught French critic, pianist and composer Léon Kreutzer (1817-1868)?

He wrote 8 quartets, each summarised in the book 'Nineteenth-Century Chamber Music', a tome edited by Stephen E. Hefling. (The descriptions are, incidentally, readable via Google books, pages 300-301 - see the link below.)

Hopefully the link works and someone might be able to find something. I think some of them are held in the library of the Liege(?) Conservatoire.

Kreutzer is described in the book as being one of the "two most aesthetically progressive musicians of the period", along with Edouard Lalo.

As an aside, I have tracked down a set of largely easy piano pieces by him, called Scènes pastorales et chants de guerre bretons. Their quality is variable, but there are some interesting harmonic ideas, if anyone would be interested in my scanning them?

Today, I chanced upon Stringfever busking in Gallowtree Gate in Leicester.

Nothing short of brilliant - and what's more Ravel would have loved it! He didn't consider this piece 'music' as such, so whatever anyone does with it would be fine!

Does anyone here have the means to copy/scan in Dimitri Melkikh's first string quartet, op. 13? It's a very rare score, but it's definitely out there decaying on some library shelves:

Or, for that matter, anything of his besides what's already been found...

I made a copy of the 2nd string quartet, op. 18, and will try to post that very soon (going to the scanning station tomorrow afternoon).
