Opus Transcribisticum
This database
is dedicated to all music lovers who enjoy this long disregarded, little
valued and almost forgotten musical genre.
Its purpose is to preserve the names of many musicians who were often
highly regarded in their times as composers, instrumentalists, professors
or simply as music teachers and who with their adaptations or arrangements
introduced the works of the great masters to a wider public in times lacking
the possibilities of electronic media.
It is understood that such a database can never be complete but I would
like to include as many arrangements as possible.
To do so I need your help.
I am aware of the fact that my selection and the choices I have made are
rather subjective, this, however, should not keep you from suggesting
pieces you believe are important and should be included in the list.
I included
all adaptations of music pieces for piano solo, piano duet, six hands
and two or more pianos.
NOT included are
- improvisations
- variations
- shortened or simplified pieces
- piano concertos for two pianos
I am aware
that here also the criteria applied are chosen rather arbitrarily, even
more so as sharp lines cannot be drawn.
I would like
to invite all of you who are interested to help me with this database
by submitting new titles, corrections and above all information about
the dates of birth and death of the arrangers.
The fact that the terminology of the database is mostly in German should
not be a problem.
Please send all information, advice and suggestions for ways of improving
the list to
Lmadlener@t-online.de
All contributions
are welcome and will be included as far as possible. Thank you very much.
PLEASE NOTE:
This database is free for all music lovers but may not be used for commercial
purposes.
