It seems a few pieces by Mathias are available in digitized format at the National Library of Spain (a quick search on the webpages for their digitised material will throw up a good few results).

I am also about to post a link to book IV of his Grandes Etudes in the Etudes thread.

Thank you Fred! I do like how after exercising the right hand, Mathias gives the left hand a shot at it. Velocity is a rather apt name for this little piece as one can attain a pretty rapid tempo rather quickly due to the simple figurations.

Not sure if this guy was French, but Gallica has three fine scores by Ernst Meumann here:

According to one Romantic/late-Romantic era critic, he was dubbed 'the French Schumann', so that has piqued my interest.
Thanks to the BIBLIOTECA DIGITAL HISPÁNICA/BIBLIOTECA NACIONAL DE ESPAÑA, here is Auguste Guéroult's Scherzo Symphonique, Op. 15.

The Meumann pieces are a very nice find indeed, and I like the polonaise quite a bit. The Guéroult piece is the first one I've ever seen where the tempo changes are indexed in the PDF.

Thank you, 4candles.
