Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Hello all
I am wondering how the Kosenko collection is coming along.
I appear to be missing Poeme op.5 no.2, and Poeme op.11 no.2, and only have the Prelude (no.1) from op.2.
Does anyone know anything about these missing pieces?
Best wishes

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Thank you guys for introducing me to the wonderful and largely-forgotten world of composers that existed over there. It's really upsetting how there's almost no basic information available on most of these names, especially while American library workers are laboring diligently to scan in every last piece of superfluous musical paraphernalia (e.g. books of college fight songs from the early 1900s) that's been printed during the West's history.

Here's a really nice collection of Shostakovich theater music in arrangement for solo piano.

The Intermezzo from The Bedbug is a particular favorite of mine--have a listen to Vladimir Viardo's recording here:http://classic.chubrik.ru/Shostakovich/ ... rdo_5.html

Re: Russian & Soviet Composers - Part 3
Here's a piece from one of the Soviet era's finest composers, who was born in Lithuania and studied in Poland, Minsk, and Moscow (confused yet?). I suppose it makes sense to go along with the idea that he's a Byelorussian composer (if we take the geographic average). The Altarus disc by Alexander Tutunov comes highly recommended:
Lev Moiseyevich ABELIOVICH
Piano Sonata no. 2 (1953)

Thank you so much for Abeliovich, caostotale!! I've been searching for more of his music for a long time, since Alfor has posted his Frescos Book 1. Hope you can dig up some more pieces from him
Best regards.
