Re: Austrian Composers
Another Herz, which I did not detect here or IMSLP. The melodies are from an opera by Hippolyte Monpou called Piquillo. Henri Herz opus 101 is called the Mosaique Musicale and has 18 pieces from opera, divided into 12 Livraisons (see page 2 of this file for the opus listing). This is the 5th piece and 3e Livraison. Hopefully someone has more of these. I have another Herz to scan, his Bolero from Le Domino Noir. Don't know the opus number for that one, and it isn't printed on it.

Re: Austrian Composers
There is a Bolero from "la muette de Portici", and a Rondo-Bolero "la catalane" op.116. I didn't know the existence of a Bolero from "Le domino noir" in Herz catalogue.

Re: Austrian Composers
Bound with the other pieces in this volume is the Herz arrangement of the Guarache from Muette, and that cover shows the Bolero as one of the three Airs de Ballet. I can't tell if the "Bolero Favori" from Domino Noir is an arrangement also (although it appears to be, since I don't see any obviously virtuosic passages).

Re: Austrian Composers
Please compare your Bolero with the attached and see if we are speaking about two different pieces

Re: Austrian Composers
Thanks for this Herz - not the same piece, although it's nice to have another of the 3 Muette pieces. Are there digital versions of 1 & 3? I have #1 in the bound volume these come from, but won't scan it if someone has already done so.
Anyway, here is the "Bolero Favori" from Le Domino Noir, so it can be compared to see if it duplicates something else.

Re: Austrian Composers
Thank you, the piece is "new" and not quoted in Pazdirek.
Attached the other two Airs; if you could provide a better copy of no.1 ....

Re: Austrian Composers
Possibly could improve #1 from Muette; the volume I'm working from are ancient originals and fading badly. I'll scan a few pages to see how they look.

Re: Austrian Composers
On IMSLP [113448] there is a complete version of the [unknown] Trois airs de ballet de 'La muette de Portici'.
It is the same of Herz.

Re: Austrian Composers
You are right, at those times they were rather rough about copyrights !
