Alternative scan:

Jazeps VITOLS (Joseph WHITOL)
Sonata op. 1
Vitols Sonate op.1.pdf
A very nice first opus, which imho deserves the best possible scan (like the majority of Vitols works, this one has been out-of-print since decades). More V. (W.) to follow!

Thank you so much Alfor....the Vitol and Aleksandrov very much appreciated [as are so many of your fantastic postings]. I look forward to future Vitol postings, as was going to do a "special" on this composer..........maybe I can fill any gaps at a later date.

An excellent posting as always from you :D

Dear Malcolm,

you are welcome! The larger credit goes to you for posting numerous rare soviet scores, most of which cannot be found even in the remotest corners of german libraries!

Best regards,

alfor

Jazeps VITOLS (Joseph WHITOL)
Variations-Portraits (Variacijas-Portrejas) op. 54
Vitols Variations-Portraits op.54.pdf
Recommended! A rather late work, published in 1921, exhibiting an interesting individual late-romantic style with some mildly contemporary traits. Compare with a masterwork I posted previously (score and audio!): Sonatina op. 63.

My last Joseph for the moment:

Jazeps VITOLS (Joseph WHITOL)
Carmina
Tris Dzeesminas klaveerem (Trois Poésies mignonnes pour piano) op. 57
Vitols 3 Poésies mignonnes op.57.pdf
Excellent! Short, somewhat experimental.

Sigfrid Walther MÜLLER (German composer, see my previous postings of works by Mr. Miller)
Suite im alten Stil op. 8
Müller Suite im alten Stil op.8.pdf
Excellent example of a tastefully spiced piece "in the Olden Style"; based on a folksong.

Dear Alfred,

Now that I'm back home and in front of my piano and find myself at a complete loss as to where to start in playing all the very interesting pieces you posted. I spent yesterday entirely on printing out yours and Malcolm's scores. (Serves me right for taking holiday for a couple weeks.) It's going to take me a few days to get caught up playing all these pieces, but what first attracted my eye was the Fuchs etudes....I am a great lover of these and found much joy especially in Vol 3.

Thanks for these great and wonderful pieces.
