You are a genius. Thank you so much
Would you happen to have any recording of any of these sonatinas?
I know that no.4 was released on a melodiya lp, with some other piano works by Nikolai Peiko.

Thank you Tony, you are most kind. I am only aware of sonatina No. 4 being recorded by Blagoy on the Melodiya label as you mentioned, but I have no recordings at all of anything by Rakov beyond the Vioin concerto which is quite popular.lutoslawski wrote:You are a genius. Thank you so much![]()

Yes, the Violin concertos are very popular. Highly romantic with exquisite orchestration.Orionalt wrote:Thank you Tony, you are most kind. Hello Malcolm,
I'm wondering if you or any other Pianophilia members know how to find a copy of Anton Rubinstein's Technical Exercises. The only information I have on the exercises is from Larry Sitsky's catalogue of Rubsintein's piano works, which says they were published in a book of 57 pages by Simrock in Berlin.
Kind regards,
Coady

I have heard of these technical studies but must admit that I have never come across a copy. There are three possible options:
1. Simrock's catelogue generally was divided between two current publishers - Schott's who are extremely helpful [just look up website and use their general enquiries e-mail], and the majority to Boosey & Hawkes [who alas are less than helpful where their archive in Germany is concerned]. Initially try Lothar Niefind who works in the Simrock archive in Berlin [although much was destroyed during WW2] - his e-mail is: lothar.niefind@boosey.com
2. Alternatively try the Berlin State Library who may hold a copy [or even other national Libaries in the hope they might hold a copy].
3. Or try to contact Sitsky direct to see where he located a copy for his book.
I'll check around at my end to see if I can locate anything for you.
Malcolm
