I don't think that this is the correct thread for this volume!
It is NOT a theory book, but a volume with interesting examples of
fugues (some for piano solo) by Armenian composers,
mainly of the 20th century.

Hi, everyone !
Does anyone have Kirkpatrick's book on Domenico Scarlatti ? It's edited by Princeton.
Thanks in advance.

Indispensable!
There is also the first volume - if anybody should be interested!
nms (although I do own a „real“ paper issue of it - antiquarian find, of course,
...and beginning to fall apart.)

Alfred, Thanks for all your posts. Sloper is not the author's name. It is Walker.

Rian de Waal - Metamorphoses
The well-known Dutch pianist and former Liszt Competition winner Rian de Waal died in 2011, he had been working on a book about The Art of Transcription which was published in 2013 and just yesterday I bought a copy. It is not cheap at €75 but you get a lot of book and 6 CD's recorded by Rian de Waal of transcriptions related to the text. The transcribers range from Liszt and Godowsky to Busoni, Wild, Wittgenstein and quite a few others. The book was originally intended to be a PhD thesis so he really goes into the technicalities of the transcriptions, so for us pianophiles I could say that this book is a necessary part of our libraries. It is published by Eburon in Delft and is called Metamorphoses. I hasten to add that it is written in English so no translations from Dutch necessary.
regards
Brian

Re: Books related to music
Black Mahler by Charles Elford looks like a good read for us
fans of British composers. Has anyone here read it, I wonder?
Talking of Coleridge-Taylor, some kind person (!) has just
uploaded his Suite from 'St. Agnes' Eve' to IMSLP.
On an unrelated issue, I notice the portal ukbookworld has
today disappeared. It gave links to some of the best UK
dealers in old books. Several of these are, of course, also
sellers of very-hard-to-find scores and books on music.
