This thread is dedicated to the music of Fyodor Akimenko:
Fyodor Stepanovick Akimenko. Born 20th Feb 1876 at Kharkov, died 8th Jan 1945 in Paris. Ukrainian composer, pianist & musicologist. Brother to the Ukrainian composer, Stepovey. Studied with Balakirev at the Court Chapel in St Petersburg, then attended the St Petersburg Conservatoire. Teachers included Liadov, Rimsky-Korsakov and Vitols. Graduated in 1914. Taught at the Conservatoire from 1919-23. Sometimes remembered as Stravinsky's first composition teacher. From 1923 until his death lived first in Paris, then later Nice. As a composer distinguished for his large number of piano pieces which reflected a romantic style with a liberal use of Impressionist techniques. Works list also attached for information.
